Lean Summit: Call for Abstracts | Lean Enterprise Institute Australia

Introduction

The Committee invites abstract submissions for:

  • Oral presentations
  • Poster / Storyboard presentations

Key Dates

  • 10 February 2012 Deadline for abstract submission at 5:00pm AEDST (Australian Eastern Daylight Savings Time)
  • 5 March 2012 Authors will be notified by email of the result of their abstract submission

Themes

The Lean Summit program will be developed around the following themes:

  • Lean Leadership and Management
  • Improving Results by becoming Lean
  • Rethinking Supply Chains Using Lean
  • Lean IT

Details of Call for Papers

Oral Presentation

Oral presentations will be scheduled in concurrent sessions based on themes. The presentations will be 15 minutes in length with 5 minutes allocated for questions. Some abstracts may be considered for inclusion in other areas of the summit program.

Note: Abstracts not accepted for Oral presentations may be offered a Poster/Storyboard Presentation instead.

Poster/Storyboard Presentations

A poster or storyboard presentation is a formal graphic presentation of a topic. Sessions times will be organised for presenters to be at their posters to discuss their work and receive feedback. Posters are encouraged to be landscape storyboards rather than portrait layout (however portrait will be accepted). Posters should be no larger than 1m by 1.5m. Poster presentations will be on display from Wednesday 9 May – Thursday 10 May 2012.

General Guidelines for Submissions

  • An abstract of a maximum of 250 words should be submitted
  • The Lean Summit organisers are seeking original work with definitive outcomes. Organisers will not consider abstracts that have been presented at other Lean Enterprise Australia forums prior to the event
  • The Lean Summit Organisers will not be held responsible for submission errors caused by internet service outages, hardware or software delays, power outages or unforeseen events
  • It is the responsibility of the presenting author to ensure that the abstract is submitted correctly
  • Responsibility for the accuracy of abstracts rests with the author
  • Include the names of all authors in your application
  • Where there are co-authors, only one abstract is to be submitted. The presenting author is responsible for ensuring the co-authors agree with and are aware of the content before submitting the abstract
  • Abstracts should be organised under the following headings:
    • Problem
    • Goals
    • Current State
    • Current State Analysis
    • Future State
    • Outcomes and Learning’s
     Or
    • Background / Problem
    • Method (what did you do?)
    • Results
    • Learning’s
  • An abstract which does not adhere to these requirements is unlikely to be accepted
  • The closing date for abstracts is 10 February 2012
  • A Committee will review all abstracts. The committee reserves the right to accept and reject abstracts for inclusion in the program
  • All Authors will receive notification of outcome of their submission by 5 March 2012
  • All presenting authors must register and pay for the Summit by 23 March 2012 otherwise the paper will be removed from the program

Process

All abstracts will go through the following process:

  • An email confirmation of receipt of abstract will be sent
  • All abstracts will be reviewed by a panel from the organising committee
  • Authors will be notified of their abstract results by 5 March 2012
  • All confirmed abstracts for oral presentations and posters will be published in the Summit Program Handbook
