David trained in Medicine at the Middlesex Hospital in London, then specialised in Psychiatry and Clinical Epidemiology. He has worked in various positions in London, Botswana and Australia.
David has spent thirty years as a working psychiatrist and came to Lean thinking and redesign in his role as the Director of Clinical Governance at the Flinders Medical Centre where he helped establish the Redesigning Care program. In the last two decades David has concentrated on health service analysis, monitoring and improving healthcare safety and quality and healthcare process redesign using Lean Thinking techniques. David has an active career as a clinical researcher, and has published over 100 articles in peer reviewed journals, as well as three books.
